Dorothy C. Shook, 94, of Essex passed from this life on November 27, 2016, at Essex Meadows. Dorothy lived most of her life in Westport, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Wayland R Shook and dear mother of Wayland Jr. (Carolyn) and Gregory (Nancy). She leaves behind her grandchildren, Anneli Franklin (Joe), Brent Shook (Silvia), Rachel Antle (Jared), Ryan Shook (Chris), Julia Shook and Kyle Shook and her great grandchildren, Sophie and Dorothy Franklin, Reed and Isabella Shook and Cyrus Antle. While residing in Westport, Dorothy was the longtime Secretary of the local chapter of P. E. O., a philanthropic organization which promotes the advancement of and provides educational opportunities for women. Dorothy was an Assistant Registrar of voters in Westport for over a decade and was the book keeper for the family owned business, Television Workshop, Inc. for many years. More recently Dorothy was a Resident Member representative to The Board of Directors for the Essex Meadows Retirement Community and served on the Welcoming Committee. Dorothy enjoyed boating, cooking, crocheting, reading and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need but what she loved more than anything was her family and precious grandchildren. She will be missed by many. Visitation will be held on Friday December 9th from 5-7pm at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street Centerbrook, Ct. A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Saturday December 10th at Essex Meadows, 30 Bokum Road in Essex from 10am- noon.
